Firm Continues Wave of Lateral Growth

New York, September 9, 2019 Timothy Gilman, an intellectual property litigator whose experience spans a range of technologies and industries, has joined Stroock in its New York office as Head of Patent Litigation.

Tim joins from Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he also was a partner. He has an extensive history of litigation and trial success, spanning industries as varied as energy, computer technology, life sciences and industrial manufacturing. He additionally focuses on licensing efforts and portfolio-level strategies, and his experience includes international arbitration and other global proceedings as well.

“There are only a few IP litigators with a track record rivaling what Tim brings to Stroock,” said Alan Klinger, the firm’s co-managing partner. Ian DiBernardo, co-practice group leader of IP and Technology, added:  “Our IP team combines business-focused guidance with an active litigation practice, and I’m confident that Tim will be an ideal complement to both aspects.”

Tim’s hire marks the seventh lateral partner to join Stroock in 2019, as well as the fourth litigator in the past year.

“Stroock has sophisticated lawyers across many practice areas and, in particular, in representing clients in a full range of IP matters,” Tim said. “I’m excited to work with the Stroock lawyers I have met and look forward to not only growing my practice but to build on their success in IP.”
