Our Diversity Committee is actively involved in all of the firm's diversity efforts, including recruiting, career development, and community support. The Committee's achievements include:
- Creating an open, welcoming, supportive work environment through firm-wide diversity training, mentoring, and career development events and programs;
- Promoting the recruiting, retention, and professional development of attorneys from diverse backgrounds;
- Launching dynamic, innovative career development programs to support every Stroock attorney's professional growth and advancement;
- Sponsoring numerous organizations that encourage career advancement of women and minorities in the law;
- Supporting various attorney Affinity Groups and sponsoring events during the year that promote the professional growth of member attorneys;
- Extending our commitment to diversity into our communities with imaginative, award-winning support and pro bono service.
The Diversity Committee's work is among the firm's top priorities. The Committee is responsible for establishing and coordinating the firm’s Affinity Groups Initiative, the Mentoring Program, and numerous business development programs. These business development programs are designed to foster cross-industry growth and provide access for all attorneys.
The composition of the Diversity Committee demonstrates the Committee’s efforts to embrace all aspects of the firm’s practice and administration. The members of the Committee range from our most senior managing partners to junior associates from a cross-section of practice areas, and both full- and flex-time attorneys. Its members include partners on the Executive Committee, the Director of Legal Personnel and Recruiting, the Director of CLE, the Director of the Firm’s Public Service Project, and our Hiring Partner.
Diversity Committee Members
Anita Rosenbloom, Chair (New York), is a Senior Management Partner who specializes in estate planning and estate and trust administration. She serves on the firm’s Partner Compensation Committee. Ms. Rosenbloom is a Fellow of the American College of Trusts and Estates Counsel, and a co-author of Manning on Estate Planning, a leading professional estate planning treatise.
Lisa Simonetti, Vice-Chair, Partner (Los Angeles), focuses her practice in the consumer financial services area. She defends complex litigation matters, including class actions, in state and federal courts around the country, at both the trial and appellate levels. She also provides compliance advice with respect to the requirements of various state and federal laws. Ms. Simonetti’s clients include student lenders, automotive finance companies, mortgage companies, federally chartered savings and loan associations, national banks, credit card issuers and e-commerce service providers.
Alan Klinger, Co-Managing Partner of the Firm (New York), serves on the firm’s Operating Executive Committee and chairs its Legal Personnel Committee. He represents both plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation and is integrally involved in the firm’s representation of public employee unions. Mr. Klinger serves as Trustee of New York State Higher Education Services Corp., Trustee of the Lawyers Committee for Civil Rights Under Law, and Vice President and Trustee of Partnership with Children, Inc.
Ross Moskowitz, Hiring Partner Emeritus (New York), serves on the firm’s Operating Executive Committee and is the Administrative Partner for Stroock’s Real Estate Group. His practice concentrates on real estate development with an emphasis on land use, zoning, public-private partnerships, environmental and tax abatement and exemption issues. Formerly Executive Vice President of the New York City Economic Development Corporation, he currently serves as a Member of the Alliance for Downtown New York, Lower-Manhattan’s Business Improvement District.
Claude Szyfer, Hiring Partner (New York), is also the Administrative Partner for Stroock’s New York Litigation Department and concentrates in commodities and derivatives litigation, antitrust counseling and litigation, real estate litigation and general complex litigation. He has an active antitrust counseling practice, and represents international financial institutions both in the United States and abroad.
Kevin Curnin, Partner (New York), is a partner and full-time Director of Stroock’s Public Service Project. In addition to providing overall management of the Project, Mr. Curnin advises Stroock attorneys on their pro bono efforts and carries his own pro bono caseload. As a commercial litigator, Mr. Curnin handled a wide range of matters at Stroock, particularly insurance, banking, securities and arbitration.
Angie Hankins, Partner (New York), specializes in intellectual property, including patent litigation and prosecution, and client counseling. Her litigation practice has involved all aspects of discovery, trial and appeal before the federal courts and the U.S. International Trade Commission. (Co-Chair, Attorneys of Color Affinity Group).
Seema Misra, Partner (New York), represents clients in a wide variety of complex business disputes. She has particular expertise in reinsurance, insolvency, and employment related litigation. Ms. Misra is a member of the Board of Directors of Practicing Attorneys for Law Students (PALS), Program, Inc.
