Twenty or 30 years ago, asserting a patent in domestic or foreign courtrooms was not as common as it is today. But times have changed, and because of that, many corporate patent departments should consider whether to modernize their worldwide patent prosecution policies to reflect the increased likelihood that they may want to enforce their patents in courtrooms around the world.
