Los Angeles, CA, Aug. 15, 2012… Stuart Graiwer, a partner at Stroock & Stroock & Lavan LLP, was recognized by the Daily Journal as one of "California's Top Real Estate Attorneys of 2012," an honor given to just 30 attorneys.
Mr. Graiwer concentrates in the representation of private and institutional investors in connection with the acquisition, sale, development and financing of a variety of asset classes, including office buildings, mixed-use projects, hotels, multi-family and residential developments, industrial parks and retail centers, and has particular experience in the structuring of complex joint venture and partnership agreements, including the structuring and re-structuring of debt and equity investments.
The Daily Journal highlighted his work with JP Morgan Asset Management, in particular a joint venture between funds advised by JP Morgan and Tishman Speyer Properties. The partnership began the funding of a 25-story and a 10-story office building in San Francisco. The 25-story building, referred to as 222 Second Street, will be the largest new high-rise development in the city since 555 Mission opened in 2008.
Mr. Graiwer also recently represented JP Morgan Asset Management in the $300 million acquisition of two office buildings in the Horizon at Playa Vista office campus in Los Angeles. The deal was, at the time, the largest single office transaction for Southern California in over five years.
"There finally are these larger deals getting done," said Graiwer in the write-up. "In 2010, we started to see the market slowly pick up and 2011 was a really good year in terms of volume."
The Daily Journal noted that, in researching and compiling the list, transaction value and intricacy were weighed alongside the "innovative ways in which attorneys kept projects afloat in the battered economy."
